Toothache of a Clown

This film attempts to calm childrens' fear of the dentist by having a very scary clown get a cavity filled. Nitrous oxide-inspired!

This is precisely the sort of thing that "Look Around You" parodies so well.

For a minute there, I thought that was the title to a Smokey Robinson & The Miracles song! I've got some stanky Encyclopeadia Britannica films in my collection too. That circus music gets used a lot in other films I saw (typical BGM stock library at play here).

Still seems kinda odd for a clown to get a toothache after having shown that he does take care of his teeth anyway. Not a great set-up personally.

I had one of those little pieces of photo paper stuck in my mouth when the dentist took an X-ray to show that my permanent teeth were creeping up to push my baby teeth out my mandible, at a time when I didn't get all my baby teeth out, resulting in my permanent teeth having grown in place, cuasing me to have two sets of teeth for a while before I got 'em all out once I was 18 (but at least my wisdoms come in perfectly and I haven't been to a dentist since).

Anyway, it should be noticed "Look Around You" otherwise was meant to be a spoof of similar series of films that were produced and aired on BBC and ITV channels in the 70's and 80's during their "Schools & Colleges" program blocks, though I assume the North American output seen in schools share in the same glut of being too campy and bizarre by today's standards. I remember seeing a lot of that goofy stuff as a 6 year old back when schools didn't always update their equipment, often resorting to showing dated gems of the 70's in a mid 80's environment.

I love to show this clip at HELL, especially for the dream sequence with the creepy teeth people and the over sized dental drill. So painful to watch...
